KASP mapping of QTLs for yield components using a RIL population in Basmati rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract Super Basmati is an elite variety with extra-long grains and superior quality but its yield severely affected by water stress. Recombinant inbred lines (RILs) developed from the cross of IR55419-04 (a coarse grained high potential) were used to identify map yield-related quantitative trait loci (QTLs) under normal field conditions. Genotypes for 244 KASP markers obtained 188 F 9 RILs a linkage constructed 1369.4 cM, average marker interval 10.5 cM. Eleven agronomic traits phenotyped in parents. Composite mapping inclusive composite model identified 21 common QTLs related nine traits; identified, twelve mapped at novel positions. LOD scores ranged 2.51 number filled ( qFG1.1 ) 16.8 plant height qPH1.1 ). Four major effect could explain 20% variation height, hundred-grain weight grain width. Alleles improved filling, width, while alleles contributed longer grains, panicles flag leaves. Putative candidate genes 18 QTLs. These results validate use genotyping QTL bi-parental segregating population. SNPs this study can be assisted selection components improve rice.
